The maiden RCCG UK Media and Communications Seminar is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2009. The programme aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Ministers and others involved in various aspects of Church Communications to enable them more effectively communicate the gospel to all their publics – internal and external.

The main theme of this inaugural seminar is “Faith and Media in Post-Modern Times and in the Age of Technological Convergence”, with sub-themes focusing on “Enhancing the Worship Experience through Communications Technology” and “Becoming More Effective Personal Communicators”.

The central objectives of the seminar can be summed up as seeking answers to the following questions: How can faith-based organisations, with regard to media and communications, more effectively communicate the gospel in post-modern times and in the age of technological convergence? How best can technology enhance the worship experience? How can we personally become more effective communicators?

To answer these questions, the seminar will seek to do several things: first, it will examine the cultural context in which faith-based organisations do their work and how we can construct our messages accordingly; second, it will explore how faith organisations can best channel their mass communications, particularly in an age where traditional media formats are experiencing fundamental changes marked by the converging communications and information technologies; third, it aims to explore how excellence in Church multimedia ministries can be attained, thus improving the overall worship experience; and fourth, it should examine how each of us can personally become more effective communicators.
